What is Qi gong?

Qi gong is a form of exercise used extensively in China, and now throughout the world, involving co-ordinated movement and breath. Many forms of Qi gong exercise have been developed each with different purposes.

Qi gong is used by martial artists to develop strength without having to lift weights. A different form of Qi gong is used by the elderly to promote longevity, and also by the sick to encourage health.

Some Qi gong involves slow, smooth and relaxed movements where other forms involve muscle tension and strong movements.

What is the difference between qi gong rehabilitation and physiotherapy exercises?

Qi gong exercises involve the movement of the whole body coordinated with the breath where as physiotherapy exercises tend to isolate single groups of muscles and joints.

Nothing exists in isolation in your body, and muscles are all connected. Qi gong exercises stretch and move the muscles and the joints in a natural way, relaxing and strengthening the body.

Can I have private qi gong lessons as well as classes?
